The collections arrive through a playful artistic process, often annually, and usually around autumn… inspiration will trigger a series of pieces that may be identifiable by form and finish, and themed by naive narratives.

collections

  • eggland

Eggland is a lovely place to be. Eggland is playful and fun.

    Hero; “So Eggy”

A hand raised silver egg locket pendant with hinged pin closure and toast ‘soldier’ toggle clasp. The sentry mounted on the apex is cast infantry and a spoon dangles from the safety chain

After So Eggy I made so many spoons I designed a charm chain necklace called “Skefuld. Four eggs, equal weight butter, sugar, flour” Skefuld, is Danish for spoonful.

Around the time I started making spoons I became very ill with chronic fatigue syndrome. I have recently been fascinated to discover that “the spoon is a symbol of sustenance and support and has been used not only in idioms such as the silver spoon someone who never wants for anything would have, but also in the Spoon Theory, a powerful allegory for people suffering from chronic illnesses, particularly fatigue-related ones.” (Sarah A. 16th August 2021 ‘Angel Woodcraft’)

I will never tire of making spoons.

  • my grandma

This collection honours matriarchal power, body inheritance, our physical bodies as soul homes and the soul of our physical homes. Nursery rhymes are bitter sweet and so, sometimes are our closest relationships. Our bodies are homes of our subconscious selves and our homes are extensions of our known selves. I was thinking about my own grandmother and these dimensions when making

Hero;“My Grandma, what big eyes you have..”

Silver chain mail, houses with cutout windows and doors when lifted reveal claw and bezel set stones.

May be displayed ornamentally on rose quartz plinth or worn as epaulettes.

  • thistledown

Inspired by a love poem this is a collection of leaves and seed-heads, of roses, romance and “wind blown wishes”.

    Hero; “I thought we could”

An oversize pendant, when closed hangs low like a swollen thistle head, heavy with seeds. Hinged open, leaves reveal stamped text and three seedlet drops which can be worn separately or held like rosary blessings in a palm

    Hero; ’Like my sister’

a charm bracelet of delicate, hollow form ‘seedlets’. I have made these to commission with personalised initials and symbols stamped on their smooth side.

  • message buoy

The Message buoys are chains. Like our abbreviated text chat replacing face to face, we keep sending it, the love on the threshold. These chains are looping, coded, strong, primary.

Hero; “Did you get the message?”

a fine silver double chain strung with stamped brass plaques, a spinning porthole with etched text “IN/OUT”, a silver door safety chain locked with a rose gold clasp and a wonky silver gate hinged on it’s post.

    Hero; “Shipping Forecast”

Simple, witty, concise messaging; I am here, I am afloat, I am a boat! I love making these empowering chains and I wear my MOTHERSHIP every single day. It is inspiration for our feminine, our mothering, and for all the cares we carry like babes in arms, on our Mothers’ Hip.

“The big buoys”…are the chunky chains and bracelets, with big clasps and weighty machined chain. They are for my sons, and the yang in us all, for when we want some clang and clatter, for when we want to bling.
